Why do I need a website?

Having a website has become today comparable with something basic as getting your company listed in a phonebook. Do I need static or dynamic website?

There are roughly two main types of websites - 'static' and 'dynamic'. The main difference is that in a 'static' website the content of the website (its texts and images) is saved inside the pages of the website itself, while the content of a 'dynamic' website is saved into a database.

In case of a 'dynamic' website there has to be written programming code that takes the content from the database and displays it on the right place at the website. A disadvantage of a 'static' website that you can't update your website by yourself unless you're familiar with HTML (the markup language the pages of your website are written in).

A "Content Management System" is online program that is connected to your website and enables you to change the content of your website by yourself. Through the password protected system you can add texts, images and files to your website or change or delete them. The program is located on the Internet so you are able to login to the system from any computer at any time.

It's based on the programming language PHP and the database technology MySQL and is module based.
